Thanks Jim! I really like the 430th "A" model 'Vark and the 509th FIS "Duece". The F-102 is my favorite fighter!

Those look really nice!

You mentioned earlier you SEA era interest. If you get an F-14A from VF-1, CVW-14 off the Enterprise, this could be considered a Vietnam vet, since this unit flew top cover for operation Frequent Wing, the evac of Saigon.

I thought you would like this image. SEA is an area of interest however right now my collection revolves around U.S.A.F. types. But I will look to see if a model exists of the VF-1 Tomcat.

I am working (Very slowly) on a 1/48th model of the Harvest Reaper F-111's that deployed to Takhli from Nellis for operation "Combat Lander" back in 1968. It was a poor showing for the F-111, but I really like the tail marks. [link] is a poor inflight of the jet I am modeling. The F-111A's will always be a favorite of mine!

That isn't by any chance the operation that Ed Palmgren was lost on. Palmgren was commander of the Thunderbirds in the Early sixties.

Correct. He flew 66-0024, and was lost on 22 Apr 68.

At one time he was my father's commanding officer.

There is an inetersting little history of the mission and a B&W photo of the jet prior to departing from Nellis in my friend Don Logan's excellent book, "General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark".

If you are interested in the F-111, it is a great reference. Don included some of my 20 TFW pics!
